Bio-note

Musavir Ahmed is an Associate Professor at Department of Linguistics, University of Kashmir. He has obtained MPhil on Language Contact and PhD on Linguistic Anthropology from the same department. He joined Kashmir Administrative Services after qualifying KAS for a brief period and resigned to join back academics. Most of his research work is focused on minority languages of J&K and their protection preservation and development. This includes ethnolinguistic vitality, language endangerment, language maintenance and preservation of minority ethnolinguistic groups. Among his recent publications is A Descriptive Grammar of Gurezi Shina published by SIL. He has completed several research projects sponsored by UGC and ICSSR including Description Documentation and Preservation of Shina, Ethnolinguistic Vitality, Language Maintenance and Shift among Minority Ethnolinguistic groups in Kashmir and Ladakh. He’s a steering committee member of International Ecolinguistics Association.
